Swimply - 2024

Scaling a Marketplace for Private Pools and More

home-16

Swimply is a two-sided marketplace that connects homeowners with underutilized pools to people looking for private swim experiences. By streamlining discovery, booking, and payments, Swimply enables pool owners to generate income while giving guests access to unique, private spaces. As Swimply grew, it expanded beyond pools, adding new offerings like tennis courts, pickleball courts, and event-friendly venues.

Expanding the Marketplace: Growth Initiatives

As part of Swimply’s push to expand, I worked on several growth-focused initiatives to improve user engagement and increase revenue:

Diversifying Offerings: Expanded Swimply beyond pools to include tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts, opening up new revenue streams and increasing marketplace supply.

Cozymeal Partnership: Designed an upsell feature prompting users to book a private chef after reserving a pool, enhancing the overall Swimply experience.

Pass Upsell & Dynamic Pricing: Created "Swimply Pass" upsell mechanics for frequent users and introduced time-based discounts for less popular time slots (early mornings, late nights).

home-4

Promotional Strategies: Designed promotions like fan discounts and seasonal campaigns to drive new bookings and increase host revenue.

Enhancing the Platform with AI & 3D Tech

To improve discovery and showcase listings in a more immersive way, I worked on cutting-edge tech enhancements to level up Swimply’s user experience:

home-6

3D Display: Designed an interactive 3D experience for pool listings, allowing users to explore properties before booking.

home-5

AI-Powered Search: Implemented AI-driven search enhancements, enabling users to find the best pools based on preferences, previous bookings, and user behavior.

Refining the User Experience

A seamless, user-friendly experience was critical for increasing conversions and preventing users from bypassing the platform:

home-7

Review Response System: Designed a feature allowing hosts to respond to reviews, improving trust and engagement.

home-8

Booking Circumvention Prevention: Created strategic UX barriers and incentives to keep transactions within the platform, preventing guests from reaching out to hosts off-platform.

home-9

Design System & Component Library: Built a scalable design system, ensuring consistency across web and mobile.

home-10

Booking Intent Insights: Introduced a "Reason for Booking" feature, giving hosts insights into guest preferences (e.g., family swim, fitness, parties) to help them tailor their offerings.

Empowering Hosts with Advanced Tools & Insights

To improve the host experience, I focused on developing tools that streamlined operations and increased revenue:

home-11

Calendar Syncing: Enabled hosts to sync calendars with other rental platforms like Airbnb to avoid double bookings.

home-12

Full-Day Pricing & Event Bookings: Introduced full-day rental pricing and optimized the booking flow for weddings and large events.

Impact & Outcomes

Through these initiatives, I contributed to scaling Swimply beyond pools, improving host and guest experiences, and increasing platform retention. By leveraging AI, dynamic pricing, and user research, I helped create a more engaging, profitable, and seamless marketplace.
